Scope and Contents

This file contains the typed field notes of George F. Sternberg's fossil-hunting expeditions from 1933 to 1938. The notes from 1933 indicate that Sternberg was collecting for C. Frick at the Republican Reiver Beds. Expeditions from 1934 and 1935 were near Douglas, Wyoming, with one specimen located in Lane County, Kansas. Additional expeditions during this period were in locations throughout Kansas. Specimens are listed in chronological order of discovery with the locations, collector/discoverer, and description. Some specimens include a handwritten note stating if and to where the fossil was sold. The fossil-hunting parties consisted of George F. Sternberg, George B. Pearce, Paul King, George Zeigler, Jack Swayze, R. W. Getty, and others.
