Scope and Contents
This file contains typed lists of fossils collected by George F. Sternberg in various locations. Many items contain a detailed description of fossil specimens. Several specimens contain drawings or attached photographs. Some specimens are labeled with their date of discovery. Handwritten notes indicate which items were sold, stored, on exhibit, gifted, or kept. This file also contains lists of fossils for sale or offered on auction by George F. Sternberg.

Processing Information
The lists were initially processed as four folders in the Sternberg Family Collection (now Series V: Sternberg Files of the Myrl V. Walker papers). In 2018, the fossil lists were transferred into the George F. Sternberg Collection. Between 2018 and 2023, the materials were rehoused into six folders. The original order could not be reconstructed.
