Scope and Contents
This photo album documents fossil dig sites and related activities in Kansas, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Arizona.
Images focus on landscape features, people, dig sites and excavations, camp sites, tents, horseback riding, cooking, automobiles, and entertainment.
Several images feature the Augustana College Museum in Rock Island, Illinois. Specimens are shown in in glass display cases typical of the period.
Photographs featuring Hays include black and white images of paintings by Bill Eastman from the Sternberg Museum of Natural History. Lifelike models and paintings represent early efforts in paleontology to bring historic creatures to life. Several formal photographs of George F. Sternberg, L.D. Wooster, and Museum Secretary Alice Slagle are in the back of the volume.
