The clippings were sometimes compiled by clipping bureaus before assembly into books. The media coverage offers a comprehensive view of public media focusing on Fort Hays State.

The scrapbooks are in various states of dis-repair and other points of accessing similar information include utilizing digitized newspaper databases.

Scope and Contents The first issue of the Leader was published in 1907 and continued until 2013. When it was founded, the paper was named the Western Normal Leader, becoming the State College Leader in 1931 and then the University Leader in 1977.
