Biographical / Historical

World War II - Joined the Navy in 1937 and trained as a seaman at Newport, Rhode Island. Served on the U.S.S. Cyrus and the U.S.S. McCall (both destroyers) and the U.S.S. Rutledge, an attack transport. Was at Pearl Harbor and was involved in one of the earliest counter attacks against the Jap (strike force which attacked the Marshall Islands)- Pacific and Atlantic Fronts. Was awarded 6 Theater of Operation Medals. Retired from the Navy in 1959 as a Commission Warrant Officer.
