Biographical / Historical
Vietnam War - 501st Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. Black man who was very proud when he was drafted - chance to prove to some he was good American. Knew he was going to Vietnam - last chance in an elite unit. 1968 - operations in the Central Highlands - cold and wet of the monsoon season - rugged terrain. Decided what it like to be ambushed - numbing fear. After 3 months - led a machine gun squad. 40 combat assaults - evolution - to enjoying the killing.
