 Series
Identifier: MS 016

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Kansas Oral History Project Collection originated from the office of Dr. James L. Forsythe, professor for the History Department at Fort Hays Kansas State College, now Fort Hays State University. There are interviews conducted by Dr. James L. Forsythe as part of his historical research into the history of the University, and other subjects.

The majority of the interviews were collected by students as an element of their coursework under Dr. Forsythe. The subject matter covered in the student collected oral histories directly relates to the coursework students were covering in their respective courses. Courses with associated oral histories include Historical Methods, American History Since 1877, Kansas History, and others.

Not all interviews have clear dates for when the interview took place. However, those with clear dates range from 1971 through 1977. Many of the interviews have transcriptions, and releases. There are some transcripts without accompanying audio recordings. Audio recordings are in reel-to-reel and audio cassette tape formats.
