Overview
The Donna Malsom Library contains books and videos regarding the Smoky Hill Trail and the area surrounding it.
Biographical / Historical
Donna Malsom was a leader in the founding of the Smoky Hill Trail Association and she served as its first Vice-President (2007-2011). Donna was born in northern California on December 31, 1956 and moved to northwest Kansas in the 70’s. She loved history and was especially fond of Kansas history. She helped to establish the Collyer (Kansas) Community Alliance which did many things for the small community. As Vice-President of the Smoky Hill Trail Association, Donna did a lot of work to get the Association off the ground and played a big part in setting up the first Smoky Hill Trail Association Conference which was in Hays, Kansas in 2007. Donna was a true ambassador for the Smoky Hill Trail.
Donna enjoyed cooking and she was attending the International Culinary School in Denver, CO with a goal to own and operate her own restaurant in Collyer. She passed away in Denver on September 7, 2011. In 2012, the Smoky Hill Trail Association established the Donna Malsom Library within the Smoky Hill Trail Association Archives to collect books and other items regarding the Smoky Hill Trail.
