Springfield Mo Feb 26th 1863 13 Regt K V

Hon S. C. Pomeroy My Dear Sir

I am in receipt of your favor relating to certain matters connected with the reorganization of this Regiment. In answer I have only to say that no person ever told me that we were to be at home in the Spring nor did I ever hear any one else promised anything of that kind. There has been a little grumbling but nothing more a further than we hear among the men of any other Regt indeed I think there is more [illegible] patriotism in the 13th than allmost any Regt I ever saw. For my own part I have no desire to do any particular thing more than to fight my best or do whatever Duty may be assigned me by my Superior officers and the men have on every occasion shown their same in positions. I think it highly probable that some sore head at home has made representations to you to induce you to do something in relation to my Regt. What the motive is I neither know nor care: with a full consciousness of having done my duty as have my men and inspired by no desire for the future except such as becomes a man and a patriot. I bid defiance to every attempt to interfere with my Regt or my self.

I have the honor to be one of your Constituents Thos M. Bowen Col 13 Regt KV
