Overview The Smoky Hill Trail Association was established in 2007 to preserve, promote and interpret the heritage of the Smoky Hill Trail which ran from Atchison, Kansas to Denver, Colorado beginning in 1859. The archives of the Association are located in Forsyth Library on the campus of Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.
