The materials in this collection represent varied interests regarding the Overland Trails, with an emphasis on the Leavenworth and Pike's Peak Express stage line, in the 1850’s-1860’s. Included are articles, book chapters, correspondence, maps, and research notes. There are also folders of research and notes on each of the 27 stations of the Leavenworth and Pike’s Peak Express.

Overview
The Dorman Lehman Collection contains materials relating to the Overland Trails with an emphasis on the Leavenworth and Pike’s Peak Express. The collection of maps, research notes, correspondence, articles, and surveys was given to the Smoky Hill Trail Association by Mr. Lehman at the annual conference in Russell, Kansas in October 2014.
Biographical / Historical
Mr. Dorman Lehman was born May 11, 1927 in Minnesota, and he lived in California, Kansas and Colorado. He was a draftsman, home designer, historical researcher and a museum director. He worked at the Greeley Museum and Centennial Village in Greeley. He ran The Old Mill Museum in Lindsborg, KS and the Central School Museum in Grand Rapids, MN. He passed away June 1, 2015 in Greeley, Colorado.
