Biographical / Historical
Korean War and Vietnam War - U.S. Marine Corps - Mr. Hall enlisted in the Marine Corps on November 9, 1942, the beginnning of a career that was to span 30 years. Of major importance was his role in the formation of the 1st Helicopter Unit in the Marine Corps.
Though Mr. Hall did make the Inchow landing in Korea, with the second wave, his combat experience was limited to rescue attempt. He describes the helicopters as inadequate at the time.
Mr. Hall also served three tours of duty in Viet Nam, where again his combat was limited to rescue missions.
Mr Hall was a mustang. He entered the service as a privaate and rose through the ranks to achieve the rank of Lt. Col. before retiring in 1972.
